Attorney DeVon D. Dunn, founder of The Dunn Law Firm, started practicing law in 2015 as a student attorney; attorney Dunn was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 2018. Attorney Dunn has extensive experience in federal tax controversy, personal injury, and criminal matters.

While studying at Emory University School of Law, attorney Dunn represented juveniles charged with criminal offenses as a student attorney in DeKalb County, Georgia. Attorney Dunn also provided assistance to United States Veterans who were having trouble securing VA benefits and felons who needed help with getting their civil rights restored after being released from supervision (probation, parole, and imprisonment). Attorney Dunn’s performance in law school and his dedication to tax law led to him being one of few to attain a position with the Office of Chief Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service’s honors program. The Office of Chief Counsel for the IRS has the responsibility of representing the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service.

After graduating from Emory Law, attorney Dunn became an attorney with the Office of Chief Counsel’s Atlanta office, which ranks second amongst states with tax controversies before the United States Tax Court (after Los Angeles). Attorney Dunn has represented the Commissioner of the IRS before the U.S. Tax Court in over 300 cases and advised the IRS and the United States Department of Justice on several matters. While working with the Office of Chief Counsel, attorney Dunn collaborated with Low Income Taxpayer Clinics throughout Georgia, resolving tax matters for low income taxpayers; these experiences inspired him to provide similar services to low income taxpayers in his private practice. Following the lead of its founder, The Dunn Law Firm has implemented a "low bono" program for taxpayers who would see a greater benefit from the firm's services by way of a reduced flat fee for simpler tax court issues.

Prior to leaving the Office of Chief Counsel, attorney Dunn served as the point of contact for fraud-related issues in the Georgia-Florida-Alabama area. Although attorney Dunn prefers litigating in federal Tax Court, he is also an Emory-certified “deal lawyer” and is therefore prepared to resolve issues without the need of trial when doing so would benefit his clients. After resigning from his position as Senior Attorney with the Office of Chief Counsel, attorney Dunn integrated tax controversy and criminal law representation into his personal injury firm.

Attorney Dunn understands the importance of establishing connections between the nuances of law and the complexities of life and he prioritizes listening to his clients to ensure he understands their needs. Attorney Dunn aggressively handles and litigates his cases. Attorney Dunn prides himself on being an advocate for all of his clients no matter the size of the case. Whether it be an injury resulting from a motor vehicle accident or arguing a tax issue before a federal judge, attorney Dunn uses his experience as a former IRS Senior Attorney to obtain the best results for his clients.

Attorney Dunn is barred in the U.S. Tax Court, Georgia Supreme Court, and the District Court of Northern Georgia. In addition to his experience in U.S. Tax Court, attorney Dunn also has experience resolving tax matters with the Georgia Department of Revenue and the California Franchise Tax Board. Attorney Dunn is a member of the Georgia Bar Association and the Atlanta Bar Association. Attorney Dunn obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Savannah State University and his law degree from Emory University School of Law. Attorney Dunn has served as a mentor to Emory Law students and Savannah State University students and continues to sponsor college tours for his community.

The Dunn Law Firm is founded on true experience, by a true tax attorney, with real Tax Court experience, and is therefore committed to standing up to the IRS on your behalf.

Attorney Dunn resides in Atlanta, Georgia and enjoys cooking, spending time with his family, and playing basketball.
